Review: Rye Catchers – Dead Cool

Rye Catchers’ new album “Dead Cool” brings a playful bite and a sharp sense of melody. Released on December 12, 2025, the nine-track project kicks off with the title song “Dead Cool”, a punchy and magnetic opener that sets the pace for the rest of the record.

From the get-go, there’s an undeniable energy flowing through this album. “DIY Disco!” lives up to its name with a funky, bass-driven beat that’s impossible to sit still to. “Happier” feels like windows down on a warm day, while “Lie to Me” offers a rawer emotional hit, still holding on to that steady, confident rhythm Rye Catchers does so well.

Then comes “Prisoner”, a track that dials things inward a little. It’s moody but not heavy, and the vocals feel intimate without losing clarity. “Ephemeral” is a short, reflective moment, the kind that hits a little harder after a few listens. “Slippin’” and “Out of Time” keep the movement alive with tight grooves and smart dynamics. Closing with “1989”, the band brings in a smooth, nostalgic glow, tying everything together with just the right dose of retro influence.

Personally, I’m really into how “Dead Cool” mixes upbeat sounds with real emotion. It’s catchy without trying too hard, and there’s heart in every track. Rye Catchers know what they’re doing, and they’re doing it with style. If you’re in the mood for something vibrant, melodic, and sincere, give “Dead Cool” a listen. It’s a tight set of songs with personality, polish, and replay value. Be sure to follow Rye Catchers, add the album to your playlists, and keep an eye out for what they do next. This one’s got staying power.
