The Rat Utopia Experiment comes in swinging with their latest single, “Leviathan”. It’s a gritty, snarling track that doesn’t hold anything back. Jealousy takes center stage here, not the passive kind, but the kind that grows claws. Phi Lane, the band’s lead singer, frames envy as something almost mythical. It creeps in when you compare yourself to the smarter, prettier, more popular version of someone else. But in “Leviathan”, that feeling doesn’t stay quiet for long.
The whole thing is chaos in motion, in the best way. Evan, the drummer, is clearly out to push limits, and it sounds like he’s practically daring the rest of the band to keep up. They don’t back down. It’s fast, messy, loud, and tight all at once, like the wheels are about to come off but somehow never do. What grabbed me personally was the tension. The track doesn’t try to smooth anything out, and that’s its power. It keeps you on edge, wired, and wanting to replay it just to see if it really went that hard.
If you like your punk unpolished, emotionally raw, and driven by something darker, this track should be on your radar. “Leviathan” isn’t trying to make you comfortable. It wants to shove envy into the spotlight and let it scream. Make sure to follow The Rat Utopia Experiment on Instagram, and check out their music on Spotify and Bandcamp. “Leviathan” is live and waiting to be cranked up. Add it to your playlists and keep an eye on this band. They’re not here to play it safe.
Listening to songs so you don’t have to! Just kidding :D, you totally should. Music blogger by day, nurse by night
