Review: HydraTek – BioPunk

HydraTek’s “BioPunk” is a high-octane fusion of industrial techno, drum and bass, and futuristic chaos that hits with full force. From the first second, the track builds a heavy, electrifying atmosphere that feels straight out of a cyberpunk universe. The synths are jagged and sharp, the rhythms fractured and aggressive, creating a soundscape that’s both dark and strangely energizing.

There’s an underlying sense of urgency that pulses through every beat. The percussion punches hard, while metallic textures and glitchy effects keep the track unpredictable and exciting. Released as part of the Don’t Play This at Home Records compilation, “BioPunk” refuses to stay within genre boundaries. It’s harsh and raw but never loses its sense of purpose. It’s easy to imagine this playing during a peak-time warehouse set or soundtracking an intense scene in a sci-fi thriller.

The production is tight, detailed, and full of movement. It invites repeated listens because every time through, you catch something new in the layers. HydraTek clearly isn’t interested in making something safe or predictable. Instead, this track feels like a bold statement and a sonic adrenaline shot.

This one really impressed me with how it balances intensity and control while sounding totally fresh. Make sure to follow HydraTek and add “BioPunk” to your playlist—you don’t want to miss this.
