Review: Benjamino – Cucino

Benjamino’s debut album “Cucino” invites you into a space that feels warm, lived-in, and full of personality. The Eora/Sydney producer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist shapes each track with the same care someone might use when preparing a meal from scratch, letting every layer blend slowly until the final result hits with depth and charm.

The album title comes from the Italian phrase for “I cook”, and the project follows that idea in a fun way. It moves like a menu, starting with “Antipasto”, which sets a playful tone before slipping into the richer territories of “Primo” and “Secondo”. By the time it reaches “Dolce”, the closing moment lands softly, almost like the last bite of something sweet that brings everything full circle.

Across the record, Benjamino folds vintage textures into soulful grooves, letting keys, bass, and guitar wrap around warm synths. His voice floats easily from falsetto to a relaxed conversational tone, giving the songs a human touch that never feels overworked. There is an ease to the way the record moves, and each track has little details tucked inside that make the world of the album feel alive.

Some songs brighten the room with disco-styled confidence, while others settle into calmer spaces guided by piano and soft synth lines. Funk grooves and subtle percussion keep the momentum steady without ever overpowering the intimate moments. Even with its shifts, the album feels unified thanks to a cohesive framework that ties everything together. You can hear how intentionally each track was shaped, the same way someone in a kitchen might taste, adjust, and shape a dish until it lands just right.

Personally, I found “Cucino” refreshing in how it balances groove and softness. It made me want to sit with it longer, almost like revisiting a meal you didn’t want to finish too quickly. I also appreciated how naturally it fits different moods. Whether relaxing in the evening or easing into a slow morning, the album settles in comfortably without losing its spark. Before you head off, make sure to follow Benjamino across his socials and add “Cucino” to your playlists. This debut has a lot to offer, and keeping up with him means you won’t miss the next chapter of what he’s building.
