Review: Bad Bubble – Olive Oil

I hit play on “Olive Oil” and was buzzed immediately by the emptiness in its sound—it’s like walking into a nearly empty room where just one piano note hangs in the air, and that somehow grabs you harder than a stadium full of noise. The lyrics, “What is this indifference?… Am I not good enough?” really cut me deep, like a whisper you can’t ignore. That kind of vulnerability in music is rare. It’s unfiltered, fragile, and feels like reading someone’s unsent diary page.

There’s this moment later in the song when Bad Bubble’s voice cracks just enough. It isn’t polished; it’s real. It reminded me of those late-night texts sent in passion or pain, texts you regret sending or don’t regret at all. Its minimalist production—delicate electronic pulses and haunting silences—only brings those confessions closer. No frills, no extra layers, just presence. It calls to mind the early-days of Depeche Mode or the soft heartbreak of Trentemøller, but it stands on its own—fresh yet familiar.

I like the song so much, it’s already on replay and honestly should be in everyone’s playlist because the raw honesty, emotional beats, and sparse atmosphere in “Olive Oil” make it that kind of song that sticks, you know?

It’s one of those tracks that makes you sit up and feel something you didn’t even know you were holding in. Definitely check it out on Spotify or Bandcamp. This one’s a keeper.
