Hi! “Gucci Body” blends hip-hop and pop with sultry vocals. What inspired you to create this confident and empowering anthem?
A: I wanted to create a song that makes you feel amazing—no matter where you are in your journey. In this context, “Gucci” isn’t about luxury; it’s a mindset. It’s about knowing your worth, carrying yourself with confidence, and putting in the work to be your best self. I’ve had my share of self-doubt, and I know many struggle with that. I was inspired by how I felt listening to Sexy by Rae Sremmurd and Rude Girl by Bantu—both songs radiate confidence in different ways and made me feel unstoppable. I wanted to capture that same energy—an anthem for empowerment and fully feeling yourself. “Gucci Body” is an anthem for empowerment: it’s about walking with your head high and stepping into your main character moment.
The song’s title uses “Gucci” as a metaphor for self-worth. How did that concept shape the lyrics and overall message?
A: Great question! In this context, “Gucci” symbolizes “good”—a way to express self- worth that goes beyond material luxury. I wanted the surface to be playful and stylish, while the deeper message is all about self-respect, confidence, and treating yourself with the absolute best care. It’s a reminder that what you wear doesn’t define you—how you feel about yourself is what matters.
Deep Jandu produced “Gucci Body.” What was it like collaborating with him, and how did he influence the track’s sound?
A: I owe a huge shoutout to Deep Jandu for taking a chance on me when I walked into his studio with nothing but raw passion. He was incredibly patient, fun-loving, and downright talented—he really understood the vibe I was going for. I envisioned “Gucci Body” as a high-energy, sexy track with a pop vibe layered over a deep hip-hop beat, and Deep brought that vision to life with signature touches like a crisp clap before the chorus and an intro piano that really made the song come alive. His production gives the track an infectious energy that has you hyped even before the lyrics kick in.
Your music combines R&B’s emotional depth with pop’s infectious hooks. How do you balance both styles in your songwriting?
A: My process is pretty organic—I grew up immersed in both pop and R&B, so those influences naturally shape my melodies and lyrics. I never box myself into one genre; the songs just flow as they come. Often I write a slow ballad that isn’t exactly my style, but that just shows the diversity in my writing. If a song isn’t perfect for me, it might end up being something I share with another artist someday. It’s all about letting the music evolve naturally.
Growing up in Malvern, how has your cultural background and hometown influenced your sound and artistic identity?
A: Growing up in Malvern was a formative experience—it’s a neighbourhood bursting with culture, energy, and resilience, though not without its challenges. I had to mature quickly and navigate life largely on my own. The incredible diversity there exposed me to a mix of sounds—from soca and reggae to pop and R&B—which naturally found its way into my music. More importantly, Malvern taught me to stand strong, trust myself, and push through any doubts. That spirit of self-made confidence is at the heart of everything I create.
You draw inspiration from icons like Aaliyah and Britney Spears. How have they shaped your vocal style and music direction?
A: I love this question—each of these incredible women has influenced me in her own unique way. Aaliyah’s angelic voice and strong yet mellow presence always leaves me in awe. Britney Spears’ captivating performances, blending sexiness with charm, set the standard for what it means to be an entertainer. They taught me that you can be both soft and strong, and their influence shows up in my lyrics, storytelling, and song structure. Their legacies inspire me to stay true to myself. Authenticity is key for me, and I let my ideas and melodies flow naturally, without being confined to a specific style.
You’ve spent years refining your craft. What moment made you realize you were ready to fully commit to music?
A: The turning point came after I wrote “Gucci Body” and a few other tracks. The lyrics, melody, and vibe were unlike anything I’d created before—I knew I had something special. Listening back, I realized I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t share my music with the world. It took time to get here, but every step of my journey has shaped me into the songwriter I am today. “Gucci Body” is the perfect debut—a powerful anthem of confidence, strength, and inner love that marked my leap into the spotlight.
“Gucci Body” is about empowerment and confidence. What do you hope listeners feel when they hear it for the first time?
A: I hope listeners feel empowered and uplifted—a reminder that they’re worth celebrating and capable of owning their moment. I want the song to be a boost of confidence, an anthem that makes you stand tall and feel truly unstoppable.
This is your debut single. How does it set the tone for your future music, and what can fans expect next?
A: “Gucci Body” is just the beginning—I have so much more music on the way, and I can’t wait to share it. More than anything, I’m dedicated to connecting with my fans on a real, personal level. I’ve spent my life searching for my kindreds—people who love music as much as I do, who feel what I feel when they listen. Building genuine relationships with those who connect with my art means everything to me. This is a big year, and I’m just getting started.
If someone could only describe “Gucci Body” in three words, what would you want them to say and why?
A: Fun, Powerful, Real.
