Review: HARVEY RUSHMORE & THE OCTOPUS – Acid River

“Acid River”, HARVEY RUSHMORE & THE OCTOPUS feels like driving through some hazy dream of the desert, where reverb-drenched guitars and echoing synths twist through the heat like distant mirages. Released on November 25, 2025, via Taxi Gauche Records, the track straddles garage rock, psychedelia, and surf in a way that feels unpolished in the best way. The Swiss band leans into their signature blend of psych-rock and kraut grooves here, with tight instrumentation and a cinematic, sprawling mood. The guitar tones have grit and fuzz, but never drown the melodic edge. There’s something slightly hypnotic about the way the song moves, like you’re drifting with the current but constantly aware of the pull just beneath the surface.

The band doesn’t overplay it. They let the atmosphere take the lead, layering tones in a way that feels natural. Every sound has space to breathe. That restraint is part of the charm — it doesn’t try too hard to impress, and that makes it stick with you longer. From a personal angle, I really enjoy how the track wraps its textures around you without losing that raw rock energy. It’s the kind of song I’d throw on while cruising down empty roads or zoning out with headphones on. HARVEY RUSHMORE & THE OCTOPUS has found a superb balance of groove and grit here, and it totally works.

Make sure you follow HARVEY RUSHMORE & THE OCTOPUS and add “Acid River” to your playlists. Whether you’re into psych, garage, or anything with a bit of cosmic fuzz, this track is worth your time. Keep an eye on this band — they’re carving out a space that’s all their own.
