GrooveGalore Muzik makes a bold move, reworking the beloved 1987 Whitesnake anthem into a heartwarming reggae rock gem that sounds both nostalgic and invigorating. As the lead single and opener to My Reggae Rocking Journey: Vol 2, this version hits on July 25, 2025, but the July 24 press release from Global Sound Group already caught my ear, and for good reason.
Right from the opening rhythms, the track pulses with lively percussion and syncopated reggae beats, all courtesy of GrooveGalore’s (aka Paul “GrooveGalore” KasticK) masterful drumming and production. KasticK’s lead vocal brings a deep, soulful edge, and Cen’C Love’s cameo adds an intimate, magnetic harmony. Together, they transform Coverdale’s power ballad into something warm, spontaneous, and fresh.
What makes this reinterpretation special is the way it honors the original’s emotional essence, its yearning and affection, while weaving in breezy reggae textures that feel both modern and timeless. There’s a gentle guitar undercurrent, a thumping bass, and lush synths. Every element shines through the polished mix from Josh Gold in Boston.
As a longtime fan of genre blending, I appreciate how GrooveGalore preserves the song’s emotional core and gives it a fresh pulse. I found myself humming along after one listen. You can’t help but fall into its groove.
Overall, “Is This Love” is a stellar preview of what promises to be a boundary crossing album. Soulful, inventive, and irresistibly catchy. Highly recommended.
