Review: Anthony Presti – Lemon Moon

Some records come with a backstory that’s hard to ignore, and Anthony Presti’s “Lemon Moon EP” is one of them. Released May 1st, 2026, this six-track project was recorded inside a favorite BnB getaway, the Lemon Moon Cottage in Sebastopol, California, which Presti turned into a makeshift recording space. That kind of origin isn’t just a quirky footnote. It seeps into every track. The EP has the warmth and ease of a place that genuinely meant something to its maker. Presti is a San Francisco-based singer-songwriter with roots in Seattle’s grunge scene, Northern California’s punk world, and over a decade of solo work under his belt. That road-worn, genre-hopping background has always given his music a wide range of color, and “Lemon Moon” might be the sharpest he’s ever sounded. The EP opens with “Simple Things”, featuring Sonoma County rockers Blue Radio as his backing band. Originally written during the pandemic and finally given its full studio treatment here, the track has an unhurried, organic energy that’s hard to fake. Twangy guitars, heartfelt piano, and a chorus that genuinely sticks around after the song ends.

“Never Gonna Be Famous” is a standout. Presti leans into his self-aware, witty side here, pairing a reggae-touched groove with layered vocals and a chorus that somehow manages to be both tongue-in-cheek and oddly uplifting. Closer “Sitting on a Wave” wraps things up with a psych-tinged bass groove and hazy guitar work that builds slowly and pays off. The collaborator list across the EP is no small thing either. Aubrey Whitfield, who has worked with Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish, handled “Her Eyes”, while Austin-based engineer Ryan Hayes shaped several other tracks remotely. Each song has its own distinct sonic personality, yet the EP holds together as one cohesive listen from top to bottom. This is the kind of record that rewards repeat listening. Details keep surfacing that weren’t obvious the first time around. It’s sentimental without being sappy, and pulling off that balance takes more craft than most people realize.

If you haven’t discovered Anthony Presti yet, “Lemon Moon” is a great place to start. Give the full EP a proper listen from track one to the end, add it to your regular rotation, and follow him on Instagram at @anthonyprestimusic and on Facebook at @aprestimusic. The singles already out have been picking up solid momentum, and keeping up with where he goes next from here seems like a pretty easy call to make.
