Review: Among Legends – H/A/C/K

Toronto punk has always had something to prove, and Among Legends are out here proving it again. The trio recently shared “H/A/C/K”, the lead single off their upcoming full-length, Lose My Grip, due July 10, 2026, and it’s exactly the kind of track that reminds you why this scene never really went anywhere. Mitchell Buchanan handles bass and vocals, Sara Fellin holds it down on drums and vocals, and Tyler Boles rounds things out on guitar. Together, the three have been building this thing since 2016, putting in the hours through self-released EPs, constant touring, and the kind of grassroots hustle you can actually hear in the music. “H/A/C/K” is fast and direct, and it runs on a dual-vocal dynamic that keeps the energy moving without ever letting up. The melodic punk foundation is solid, but there’s a rougher, more aggressive edge here that feels like a band stepping into a new gear.

Matt Gauthier produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered the track at ARC Recording Studio and This Place Needs A Name. The result is a recording that punches hard while keeping everything tight and intentional. If your regular rotation includes The Flatliners, The Menzingers, Alkaline Trio, or Bad Religion, this one fits right in. Personally, “H/A/C/K” is the kind of song that earns repeat plays without asking for them. There’s a confidence to it that doesn’t need to announce itself, and that’s honestly the best kind of punk rock.

If Lose My Grip keeps this level of focus all the way through, July is going to be a good month. Make sure you’re following Among Legends before that record drops, because this is a band worth paying attention to now, not later. Head over to their Spotify and add “H/A/C/K” to your rotation, find them on Instagram and Facebook at @AmongLegends519, dig into their Bandcamp, and subscribe to their YouTube channel. Share the track with anyone who still thinks Canadian punk peaked years ago, and let them hear why that argument no longer holds up. Lose My Grip is on its way, and if the lead single is any indication, Among Legends is coming in with something worth the wait.
