Review: Undergone – Falling Apart

“Falling Apart” by Undergone is a stirring piece of alternative rock that pulls you into its emotional depths with raw clarity. Right from the opening reverb-tipped guitar chords you’re invited into a space that is at once spacious and quietly tense. The band, hailing from Katowice in Poland, embrace a rich mix of shoegaze, noise rock and ambient textures in a way that feels personal rather than overly stylised.

The verses move with a slow, haunted momentum — the vocals of Wiktoria Borecka glide over the mix in a voice that is both dreamlike and grounded. The lyrics express uncertainty and confusion: “I don’t know if it’s imagination or if it’s real” resonates as more than a casual line. Then as the song unfolds, the instrumentation shifts, introducing heavier guitars and more insistent rhythm, letting a wave of distortion rise gently, then definitively. The result is not chaotic but purposeful; a passage from reflection into intense release.

The balance between the ethereal and the grounded in this track is what makes it compelling. There is a moment where the instrumentation decelerates, giving space for the vocals to carry weight, and then the surge returns — like going under water then surfacing. The production reflects this duality: light and shadow, softness and grit. It’s deeply immersive in a way that invites listeners to revisit and pick up new details each time. From my ears, “Falling Apart” leaves a lasting impression, not because it tries to impress, but because it sincerely communicates emotion.

On a personal note I found myself drawn into the atmosphere from start to finish and I felt the cathartic climb of the song in a very real way. I will absolutely return to this track again. If you haven’t yet, be sure to follow Undergone and add “Falling Apart” to your favourite playlist. Their ability to weave ambient elements with rock-driven intensity makes this release a standout. Don’t miss the chance to support an emerging band bringing thoughtful depth into alternative rock. Make this track part of your rotation and let it find its place in your listening journey.
