We spoke with Matt Lang about “All Night Longer” and more!

Hi Matt! Can you share with us the main inspiration behind ‘All Night Longer’ and how it reflects your personal experiences or feelings?

A: This song is about having someone on your mind all day and looking forward to spending time with that person and never wanting it to end. To me, “All Night Longer” can also mean just enjoying time spent with loved ones or doing something that you love. Personally, it makes me think about touring. Being on stage with my band and connecting with an audience is my favorite thing in the world and I never want it to end.

Working with a producer like Danick Dupelle must have been an incredible experience. How did his expertise influence the final sound of ‘All Night Longer’?

A: I’ve been working with Danick for a few years now and he has become a very close friend of mine. He knows my style, and he knows me so it’s always a fun process to write together, pick songs and record. He’s also from Quebec and is perfectly bilingual so he’s also been helping me perfect my English and make sure I pronounce everything right on the record (laughs).

You have a reputation for energetic live performances. How does ‘All Night Longer’ capture the essence of a Matt Lang concert experience?

A: “All Night Longer” is the perfect song to play live, it’s upbeat, festive and catchy. People can sing and dance to it and party the night away with us.

Could you walk us through your songwriting process for ‘All Night Longer’? How do you start, and what steps do you take to complete a song?

A: This song was actually written by Justin Wilson, Chris LaCorte and Bart Butler, but I loved it as soon as I heard it and knew this would be such a fun song to play live.

Your fans are eagerly awaiting your new album in 2024. How does ‘All Night Longer’ set the tone for the rest of the album?

A: It’s definitely gonna be a fun, vintage and festive album, but with also a ballad I can’t wait for people to hear. We’ve been playing a couple of the songs live already and people seem to love them as much as we do so I’m really excited to share them with the world.

Every artist has a moment in the creation of a song that stands out to them. What was your favorite part or moment in creating ‘All Night Longer’?

A: Being in the studio is always fun, but I would maybe say filming the music video and creating the visuals for the song and album. We filmed the video with some of my closest friends and recreated a house party in the 70’s. Seeing All Night Longer come to life was a really fun process.

What message do you hope your fans take away from ‘All Night Longer’ and the upcoming album as a whole?

A: Live in the moment. Life is short, enjoy every moment you have with the people you love and doing the things that make you happy.

As ‘All Night Longer’ becomes a part of your tour setlist, how do you plan to integrate it into your live shows to keep the energy and party vibe going?

A: We’ve added it to the set last summer so people that have seen our show knew the song before it came out. It always has a great reaction live so that’s why we decided to release this one first.
