Mildfire – Drinking Salt Water

Mildfire’s latest single, “Drinking Salt Water,” is a captivating and immersive track that showcases the band’s ability to create riveting dream-pop aesthetics. Departing from their playful debut single, “Never Change,” this song delves into somber territory, confronting themes of emptiness and depression. The haunting, bumpy beat paints a vivid picture of a world where summer seems absent, beds lack a lover’s warmth, words lose their meaning, and touches fail to evoke any feeling. The song resonates with anyone who has struggled to move on from past relationships or other life losses, capturing the essence of living day by day, unable to hatch long-term plans, and grappling with the resulting frustration and desolation.

Mildfire, a composer collective with a presence in both Oslo and Berlin, brings together members from Team Me and Astrosaur, among others. With their beautifully rich and immersive sound, euphoric vocal performances, and impactful songwriting, Mildfire is quickly cementing themselves as one of the more exciting names on the rise. As they continue to release more singles, two EPs in the upcoming fall, and their debut album in early 2024, Mildfire is definitely a band to keep a firm eye on.
