KEVIN DAVID KAYDEE just gave us a song that sounds like the first warm day after a brutal winter. “You Make Summer Time Beautiful” is his new pop single, and it’s built around something most of us already know but rarely put into words: some people just make everything better by showing up. He recorded this one in his own home studio with a few friends around, and honestly, you can tell. There’s nothing stiff about it. It’s got that loose, unpolished warmth you only get when people are having fun making music together instead of watching the clock. Kaydee has talked about how the song came from noticing that certain people make ordinary days feel brighter just by being in them, and that idea runs through the whole track without ever getting heavy-handed about it.
Kaydee himself has lived a pretty wild mix of places: Nigeria, Sweden, the UK, the US, and now Tallinn, Estonia, and you can hear pieces of all of that in his sound. He got his start in the house duo RHODY & KAYDEE with Swedish producer Martin Zeidner, and since going solo, he’s put out everything from the Afro-house banger “Tallinn Vibe” to the gospel-leaning “Oluwa Settle Me” to his duet with IVI, “I Can’t Lose”. You can tell Michael Jackson and Prince are somewhere in his DNA, too, especially in how naturally the melodies move. This is honestly one of those songs I keep coming back to without meaning to, and it deserves a spot on every summer playlist out there.
Give KEVIN DAVID KAYDEE a follow on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, and don’t sleep on this one. Add “You Make Summer Time Beautiful” to your rotation and let it do its thing this season.
Listening to songs so you don’t have to! Just kidding :D, you totally should. Music blogger by day, nurse by night
