That background gives the song a quiet depth, and the pedal steel adds a lovely touch. “Down by Our Lake” captures the simple joy of summer days, music, and time spent by the water. “On a Plane to Nashville” ties into Sara’s workshop trip to Nashville, while Peter wrote from the perspective of staying home and imagining the trip from a distance. That contrast gives the song an interesting emotional angle.
One of the strongest parts of this EP is the way Sara and Peter meet each other in the middle. Sara brings a love for uplifting songs and catchy melodies, while Peter adds experience and a slightly more wistful side. Together, they create something that sounds honest and personal without trying too hard. I really enjoyed how easy this EP is to sit with from start to finish. It has a gentle, human quality that makes the songs stick with you in a very natural way.
