Review: Stealth – Wilderness of Mirrors

Stealth’s side of Wilderness of Mirrors pulls no punches. Their three tracks land early in the split album and make an immediate impact, with a sound that feels tight, deliberate, and built for tension. This isn’t just noise or aggression for its own sake. There’s structure here, and a clear sense of what each track is trying to say, even when the message is buried under distortion and static. The opener, “False Reality”, sets things off with a cold, pulsing rhythm and sharp guitars that cut through like warning sirens. It hits with clarity but still leaves you unsettled. “Perestrojka” plays more with atmosphere, but it doesn’t lose momentum. There’s a feeling of collapse in the background, like watching a structure fall apart in slow motion. “Checkpoint Charlie” closes out its section with what is probably the strongest emotional pull. It captures that weird tension between control and chaos, and how hard it is to hold onto your own voice in systems that want to flatten you.

Even with four bands on the album, Stealth feels right at home. Their sound fits the broader concept of Cold War hangovers and modern control systems without overexplaining anything. The production gives every part space to hit, whether it’s the machines or the moments that sound almost human. They’ve nailed a balance that makes you want to hear more, but also sit with what’s already there. From my end, I think these three tracks show a band that knows exactly how to build pressure without burning out. It’s confident but not overdone. I also respect how they keep things raw and focused, without falling into the usual clichés.

If you’re into music that actually has something on its mind, go listen to Wilderness of Mirrors. Stealth’s section is a great entry point. Be sure to follow them and keep this record in your rotation. The full release works best as a full listen, but these three songs alone are worth your attention.
