Review: Eve Goodman and SERA – Natur

Natur” by Eve Goodman and SERA is a radiant folk record that celebrates connection — to nature, womanhood, and the Welsh language. Rooted in the landscapes of North Wales, the album carries a feeling of honesty and closeness, as if each song was written beside a riverbank or under a quiet canopy of trees. Both artists share an unspoken harmony that glows with warmth and sincerity.

The record opens with a playful sea shanty inspired by a Menai Strait mermaid, before unfolding into a collection of songs that touch on love, emotion, and renewal. There’s a delicate acapella spell-song, a love song for a moth, and pieces that explore the balance between the natural and digital worlds. Anian moves with earthy percussion and catchy rhythm, while Bendith offers a graceful Celtic blessing filled with reverence for the land. Each track feels hand-shaped, full of texture and care.

Eve Goodman and SERA began collaborating after being chosen as BBC Horizons Artists in 2019, finding shared inspiration in the wild places that shaped them. Recorded at Wild End Studio near Llanrwst with producer Colin Bass, “Natur” sounds beautifully grounded. The mix lets their voices breathe, each harmony carrying the scent of sea air and pinewood.

On a personal note, “Natur” struck me as an album that quietly grows on you. Its sincerity never tries to impress; it simply invites you in. Listening to it, I felt calmer and closer to the simple things that make life rich. For me, this release captures the essence of Welsh folk at its most human — earthy, poetic, and deeply kind. It’s a reminder that songs can be like roots, holding us steady when the world spins too fast. Make sure to follow @evegoodmanmusic and @serasongs, and add “Natur” to your playlists. Let it soundtrack your walks, your mornings, or any moment you need to reconnect with yourself and the world around you.
